Privacy Policy

Short version: We collect only what we need to run Life Chapter. We don't sell your data. We don't share it with advertisers. You can delete everything at any time.

1. Who we are

Life Chapter is a solo-built, independent self-improvement application. The app is operated by its founder and is currently in beta. For privacy-related questions, contact us at: omuhammadalisher@gmail.com

2. What data we collect

We collect the following types of data:

Data you provide directly:

• Your name and age (entered during setup)
• Your chapter goal and focus areas
• Daily activity logs, task lists, and notes
• Email address (if you join the waitlist)

Data collected automatically:

• Page views and visit counts (via Vercel Analytics)
• Device type and browser (aggregated, not personal)
• IP address (processed by our hosting providers, Vercel and Supabase, for standard security and abuse prevention — not used to identify you or tied to your account)
• A push-notification subscription (browser endpoint + delivery keys and your timezone offset) — only if you turn on daily reminders
• Your subscription status and billing period if you purchase Pro (payment itself is processed by Lemon Squeezy — we never see your card number)
• A daily count of your AI requests (used only to enforce fair-use limits)

3. How we use your data

Your data is used exclusively to:

• Power the Life Chapter app and its features
• Generate personalised AI advice through the AI Advisor feature
• Send you product updates if you joined the waitlist (you can unsubscribe anytime)
• Improve the app based on usage patterns (aggregated, anonymous data only)

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or sell it to any third parties.

4. Where your data is stored

Your account and app data (name, age, goals, focus areas, daily logs, tasks, XP, and AI advice) are stored in our cloud database, hosted on Supabase (PostgreSQL). This means:

• Your data is tied to your account and syncs across your devices when you sign in
• It is protected by row-level security, so each account can only access its own data
• We (the operator) may access your data only where necessary to run, support, and debug the service
• You can delete all of it at any time from Settings → Delete account, or by emailing us

Waitlist emails are stored in the same database (Supabase) and used only to contact you about Life Chapter.

5. AI features & third-party services

The AI features (Advisor, Brainstorm, and your chapter Story) send your activity data (name, age, goals, focus areas, recent logs, and — for the Advisor — a short summary of your past advice and progress) to Anthropic's Claude API to generate personalised results. This data is processed by Anthropic in accordance with their privacy policy. The responses — your advice history and chapter stories — are saved to your account so you can revisit them; deleting your account removes them.

We use the following third-party services:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage
• Vercel — hosting and analytics
• Anthropic — AI advisor, brainstorm & story features
• Sentry — error tracking (production only; reports may include technical context about the error, never your logs or passwords)
• Lemon Squeezy — payment processing if you purchase a Pro subscription (we never see your card number)

6. Cookies & local storage

Life Chapter does not use advertising or tracking cookies. We rely only on:

• Essential local storage on your device — remembers your theme, your place in the app, and unsaved drafts so you don't lose work
• A login session token, stored locally by Supabase, that keeps you signed in
• Cookieless, privacy-friendly analytics via Vercel — counts visits without identifying you or setting tracking cookies

Because we use only essential storage and cookieless analytics, no cookie-consent banner is required. You can clear this data at any time by clearing your browser storage or deleting your account.

7. Your rights (GDPR & global)

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request deletion of your data
• Withdraw consent at any time
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

8. Data retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account exists. "Reset & start new chapter" clears your current progress; "Delete account" in Settings permanently removes your account and all associated data. Waitlist emails are retained until you ask us to remove them.

9. Children's privacy

Life Chapter is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the app evolves. We will notify waitlist members of significant changes via email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
